Oranjarra and the Terrible Twos
January 2012 marked Oranjarra Partners' second anniversary and 2011 was certainly a busy one. We undertook a number of projects for vendors and publishers (including some that wish to remain anonymous) and a number of library projects including work at the Australian Catholic University, Macquarie University, University of Western Sydney, the University of Auckland, and the University of Western Australia.
The Oranjarra Partners, Information Exponentials, GSE Research Partnership
Oranjarra Partners, GSE Research (based in the UK) and Information Exponentials (based in Australia) are pleased to announce a new collaboration in 2012. The three companies intend to work together on the development of a targeted article profiling service for librarians. This service aims to match the interest areas of librarians/faculty with relevant research from publishers.
GSE Research is a specialist publisher in the areas of Governance, Sustainability and Environment, which aims to take a different approach to scholarly publishing. GSE places the author at the heart of the research experience and offers a choice of review process as well as elective open access publication. GSE will launch its Research Exchange service in 2012, providing a space for researchers to connect. GSE is also establishing a Social Enterprise Fund through which it will give back 10% of all audited revenues to causes selected by its Research Exchange members.
Information Exponentials provides cutting-edge services and consultations to libraries and the publishing industry in scenario planning. Lead by its Director, Steve O’Connor, IE helps its clients to imagine and realize new and exciting futures.
Progress to date on this project was presented to the VALA Conference in Melbourne in February 2012. The presentation, called "Harvesting Relevant Content: Developing and Applying New Digital Profiling Methodologies and the Evolution of Commercial Discovery, Acquisition and Access", may be found HERE.
Oranjarra Value for Money/Return on Investment Survey
The survey is now closed. 135 libraries from Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, Malaysia and Phillippines, as well as a good sampling of global vendors/suppliers responded. The summary results may be found
HERE
and include the many thoughtful and illuminating comments from respondents. Analysis, graphical representations and conclusions will be posted when completed and will form part of Stephen Pugh's presentation at the LIANZA conference (see News & Notes). Many thanks to all who completed the survey!
